<직급체계>

일반사원 : employee
과장 : section chief(manager)
차장 : vice(assistant) department chief
부장 : department chief(head)
이사 : director

이상은 일반적으로 영어에서도 그 지위고하에 대해 큰 오해없이 통용될 수 있는 말입니다. 다만 section 이 departmet의 상위냐 하위냐 하는것은 회사마다 정하기 나름입니다.보통 미국회사에서는 department의 하위 부서로 team 이나 part를 더 애용합니다.문제는 대리, 상무, 전무인데 이런 것은 일반적으로 미국회사의 직급과 일대일로 맞아 떨어지는 명칭이 아닙니다.다만 상무, 전무는 managing director 나 general manager 정도로 옮길수 있습니다.만약 과장 명칭을 section chief(manager)로 정했다면 대리는 그보다 아래이니까 assistant section cheif(manager) 또는 assistant coordinator와 같이 정할 수 있겠습니다.우리 나라에서는 사장과 회장의 의미가 다른데 미국에서는 president와 chairman을 혼용하되 어느 쪽이 더 높고 낮다는 것은 없습니다.
실제로 미국에서는 직책명칭으로 coordinator, manager, supervisor, director 등 지위고하 보다는 기능을 강조하는 말을 많이 씁니다.
